ISSUE #20

👋 Hey NCC golfers,

This is a BIG week for NCC golf. There is so much going on and I hope you plan on getting out to at least one event this week.

Also, there must be something in the water. This week’s story is actually insane.

And stick around for the Editor’s Note this week. We’ve been quietly building something for those of you who want more than just our weekly report.

Let’s get started…

Somebody Put Something in the Water

I swear every day I open Facebook this month someone new has gotten a Hole-In-One!

I’m not sure what's gotten into New Castle County golfers lately, but the aces are piling up, and I’m not mad about it. There’s been FIVE Hole-In-Ones this month recorded. And fellas, the ladies are kicking our a**!

Here's the roll call, because a hole-in-one deserves to be celebrated!

Delcastle: Josh Cupitt's first-ever ace. The signature 9th hole, 172 yards downhill. There's nothing like your first one, Josh. Welcome to the club.

Ed Oliver: Walt's eleventh. Yeah, you read that right. Eleven. Walt aced the 13th from 133 yards, because apparently the man collects these like loyalty points. At this point we need to know your secret.

DuPont: Laura's first, on the biggest stage. Laura carded her first career hole-in-one on the 17th during the Women's Club Championship, then went on to finish 2nd. An ace and a runner-up finish in the same tournament. (not pictured)

Dawn Stanley's Fourth of July fireworks: Delaware Women’s Golf Association (DWGA) Tournament Chair Dawn Stanley grabbed her 2nd career ace on July 4th, on the 10th hole at War Admiral course from 103 yards with a 6-hybrid.

Kings Creek: Lynn Sweeney joins the club. Lynn aced the 2nd with a 9-iron from 111 yards, for her 1st career hole-in-one. She's the webmaster on the DWGA Board, so clearly the hard work pays off on and off the course. Congrats, Lynn.

Clearly the DWGA should be playing the lottery every week. If you're a woman looking to play more competitive golf around here, that's a group worth knowing.

So congratulations to all five of you. First ace or eleventh, club championship or holiday round, it never gets old.

And to the rest of us still waiting, keep swinging.

Last Poll Result: 80% of you said we should host a Happy Hour Meetup or 9-Hole Scramble to celebrate 1,000 NCC Golf Report subscribers. Why not just do both? Stay tuned!

The Golf Jawn comes to Delaware!

This event caught our radar last week and it’s one you don’t want to miss!

The Golf Jawn is transforming St. Anne’s Golf Links into a “night-light” community party. It’s the ultimate summer kickback, blending golf with food, drinks, networking, and NCC summer vibes.

What to Expect

For the Newbies: Professional golf instructors will be on-site to help you learn the basics, take your first swing, and discover why so many people are falling in love with the game.

For the Veterans: Bring your clubs, show off your skills, and enjoy the course at night.

The Vibe

You don’t even have to swing a club to have a good time. The event features an array of food trucks and local vendors to check out between swings. Plus, Delaware’s own DJ Kasa will be providing the soundtrack, keeping the energy high all night long.

Come for the vibes, stay for the competition, and leave with a brand-new hobby.

📅 Friday, July 17 · 5:00–9:00 PM
